Multi-Site Retail Network Rollout

The challenge

Four stores grew on ad-hoc networks. POS dropped out during trading, head office could not diagnose problems remotely, and guest Wi-Fi was unsecure.

How we solved it

  • Standardised hardware and cabling across all sites.
  • Centralised monitoring so outages are detected before staff report them.
  • Added secure remote access and isolated guest Wi-Fi from POS.

The outcome

POS stayed up during trading hours, and central monitoring meant most faults were spotted and fixed before staff even called.

What made it harder — and how we handled it

Retail outages are expensive because they hit revenue directly. We isolated guest Wi-Fi from the point-of-sale network so a visitor's compromised device could not reach the checkout systems.

Central monitoring meant head office saw a dropped connection before store managers did — cutting diagnosis time and the number of on-site visits needed each month.
